ASTROS FIGHT BACK TO EARN 2-2 TIE WITH HAMILTON THUNDER IN ONLY GAME THURSDAY
North York Astros fought back after being down 2-0 to earn a 2-2 with Hamilton Thunder in a hard fought contest between two clubs at the top of the CPSL’s Western Conference in the only game played on Thursday.
Thunder, playing on their home turf at Brian Timmis Stadium in Hamilton, went ahead after 15 minutes on a goal by Kevin De Serpa and jumped into a 2-0 lead five minutes later on a goal by Stalin Cardenas.
Thunder pressed for a third goal as the first half progressed, but North York scored five minutes from the interval on a well taken strike by Fernando Flores. Peter Zorbas scored the equalizer at the 60-minute mark and the Toronto team held on to a 2-2 tie at the final whistle.
Hamilton Thunder (2-0-2 WLT) and the Astros (2-2-2) are tied for top spot in the Western Conference at 8 points apiece
