CPSL Kicks Off

Toronto Croatia started the season on the right foot with a 2-0 shutout of Brampton Hitmen at Memorial Park in Mississauga tonight. Peter Curic opened the scoring for the home side at the 44th minute mark and Hugo Asctiud, a new signing from Argentina, made it 2-0 after 68 minutes.

London City went down to St. Catharines Roma Wolves by a 3-1 score in the opener at the Cove Road ground in London. St. Catharines� Carlo Arghittu took charge with two goals in the first half, while Simon Gatti scored a third. Eris Tafaj cut the lead for London, scoring from the penalty spot. Mississauga Olympians also took an away win by a 3-1 score, defeating York Region Shooters on their home ground at Highland Park in Aurora. In Thursday�s season opener, Jerry Cipriani scored two goals in the first 15 minutes to lead Hamilton Thunder to an emphatic 5-1 win over Vaughan Sun Devils at Brian Timmis Stadium in Hamilton. The goals were scored in the 10th and 15th minutes and Ian Bennett increased the Thunder lead after 40 minutes and Gaston Bizera made it 4-0 right on half-time. Three minutes into the second half Gus Kouzmanis cut the lead to 4-1 from the penalty spot and with a minute to go, Gaston Bizera made it 5-1 for Hamilton.
