ST. CATHARINES, OLYMPIANS SCORELESS IN LEAGUE PLAY WEDNESDAY

Two brothers had a great deal to do with the scoreless tie between St. Catharines Roma Wolves and Mississauga Olympians in CPSL regular league play at Club Roma, St. Catharines on Wednesday.

Dino Perri, playing in goal for Olympians, and brother Claudio, goalkeeper for home side St. Catharines, both held oncoming forwards and an occasional midfielder off the scoresheet in a game that produced enough chances to bring about a different result.

Olympians keeper Dino, a former St. Catharines player who played for Hamilton Thunder most of last season, was the busiest of the two and at times was outstanding for Mississauga in saving from St. Catharines striker Carlo Arghittu and midfielders Mark Mulholland and Tony Carbonara. But one of the best chances of the night to win the game came from Wolves Patrick Kelman who appeared as a substitute late in the second half to almost bring his side its third victory of the campaign.

The scoreless tie gives St. Catharines a 2-1-1 WLT record for 7 points in the Western Conference and Olympians now stand at 1-1-2 for five points.

Both teams will be back in action on Friday night, Mississauga Olympians will be at Dufferin Clark for a game with Vaughan Sun Devils, an 8 p.m. start and 30 minutes later St. Catharines will kickoff against London City at The Cove in London.
