HITMEN TAKE CHARGE

Brampton Hitmen took charge of the Western Conference with an important 2-1 victory over Hamilton Thunder at Brian Timmis Stadium in the only game played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Thursday night.

The win was a big one for the Hitmen, one of three teams along with St. Catharines Wolves and Hamilton fighting for top position and each taking its turn to occupy the top position.

Hugo Herrera opened the scoring for Brampton at the 14th minute mark and Hitmen captain Phil Ionadi made it 2-0 after 32 minutes, but not before Hamilton were down to 10 men when Srdjan Markovic was ejected at 19 minutes.

Hamilton fought to get back into the game but their lone marker came too late when Kevin De Serpa found the net four minutes from time.

The win puts Brampton two points clear in the Western Conference with a 5-1-3WLT record for 18 points, thats two points clear of Wednesdays leader St. Catharines at 5-4-1 for 16 points and Hamilton 4-2-3 for 15 points.
