HAMILTON THUNDER, TORONTO CROATIA SCORE 1-0 VICTORIES

Hamilton Thunder and Toronto Croatia both scored narrow 1-0 victories in the two games played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Tuesday.

Thunder defeated Metro Lions 1-0 at Birchmount Stadium to increase the Hamilton lead to seven points over second place Brampton Hitman in the Western Conference, while Croatia edged ever closer to a playoff berth with a win by the same score over Mississauga Olympians at Memorial Park in Streetsville.

Stalin Cardenas scored the only goal after just three minutes for Hamilton, while Mario Zupetic took longer as the Toronto Croatia marksman when he scored at the 69th minute mark to give Croatia a remarkable 16 points from the last six games.

Hamilton improve to a 10-3-4 WLT record for 34 points, that's now 7 points over Brampton, but the Hitmen have two games in hand.

Toronto Croatia now has a 8-7-1 record for 25 points, just a single point behind St. Catharines Wolves. Croatia has one game in hand over St. Catharines.

The playoff picture has narrowed to nine teams with the elimination of Metro Lions. Two additional teams will fall by the wayside during the next few days as the number is reduced to seven, made up of the top three from each conference and London City which earns a place in a Wild Card game as the host club.
