A CFL TIGER-CATS ASSIST FOR HAMILTON
It�s no surprise that the defending champions, Brampton Hitmen, are doing well in the Western Conference at this early stage of the season, but they are not standing pat in pursuit of a championship repeat and have made some interesting signings recently���and there�s important news out of Hamilton where Thunder owner Italo Ferrari is beaming after the Tiger-Cats have agreed to assist in moving tickets for CPSL games at Brian Timmis Stadium���. there�s news also, out of Metro Lions, and Toronto Croatia this week.......
In their quest to repeat, Brampton Hitmen recently beefed up their front line by acquiring veteran free agent Paul Daccobert from the Metro Lions, free agent all-star Willy Giummarra from the Toronto Croatia, Martin Peraza on loan from the Toronto Supra and midfielder Alex Morrison��
The Hamilton Thunder has struck lighting in Steeltown. They recently formed a partnership with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League, in which the Tiger-Cats will make available 2004 Thunder game tickets by phone at 905-547-CATS (2287), at Ticats retail stores in Jackson Square and Center Mall, during Ticat games at the Stadium box office on Balsam Avenue two hours prior to game time and at these following locations: Sports Obession in Lime Ridge Mall, Hamilton, Pen Center in St.Catharines and in Burlington at 3485 Fairview at Walker�s line.
Italo Ferrari, owner of Hamilton Thunder, had high praise for the community and the Tiger-Cats: "Hamilton is that kind of community--and the Tiger-Cats that kind of organization, always ready to help," said Ferrari in explaining the partnership.
Daccorbert, a native of Haiti, has an impressive resume, most notably as a member of Haiti�s National Team. Giummarra, the CPSL�s 2002 league MVP, has three goals this season and is expected to be a focal point of Brampton�s offense. Peraza known as a prolific goal scorer will join the starting line-up, while Morrison, known as tough attacker, just returned from playing soccer overseas in England
Metro Lions have made huge strides since last season�s dismal finish, and to improve their chances of maintaining a high position in the Eastern Conference, they have acquired forward Wessely Gilbert on loan from the Brampton Hitmen��
The Toronto Croatia have released defender Tom Granich, now a unrestricted free agent and have formed an affiliation with amateur teams CSC Mississauga Soccer Club of the Peel Halton Soccer League as well as CNSC Livino and HNK Zagreb of the Ontario Soccer League.
