TORONTO CITY HALL SITE FOR LAUNCH OF 2003 CPSL SEASON

Toronto City Hall will be the site of a news conference to officially launch the new Canadian Professional Soccer League season on Thursday, May 15 at 12 noon.

CPSL teams and members of the soccer community at all levels will meet the media to discuss plans for the upcoming season and the future of Canada�s only professional soccer league.

The CPSL season consists of 13 teams playing more than 130 league, cup and exhibition games from mid-May through mid-October. The Open Canada Cup is a highlight of the CPSL season and for the first time teams from outside of the CPSL have been invited to play for a winner-take-all prize of $10,000.

The well-known Dick Howard, a former pro and now the only North American on the prestigious FIFA technical committee and a resident of Toronto will conduct the proceedings and give his perspective on professional soccer in Canada as it relates to FIFA the those in attendance will hear also from Cary Kaplan, a top hockey executive and the recent president of the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League who will speak on the game of �..soccer.

CPSL president Vincent Ursini will talk about his vision for the CPSL�s future and that of professional soccer in Canada.
