CPSL DEFENDING CHAMPIONS ST. CATHARINES ROMA WOLVES ELIMINATED FROM PLAYOFFS
Hayden Fitzwilliams was the hero in the Olympians win, scoring a natural hat-trick before Damen Basak added a fourth five minutes from time. Goalkeeper Andy Luchetta, shipped in from the Niagara Peninsula Premier Soccer League, had an inauspicious debut in the CPSL, conceding the four goals for St. Catharines. Mississauga Olympians are assured of a playoff spot as a result of a win that gives the Mississauga-based team a 7-5-5 record for 26 points with two regular league games remaining. Olympians are still competing in the CPSL Canada Cup with a second leg quarter final game on Sunday against Toronto Croatia. St. Catharines end the season with a 6-7-6 record for 24 points.
Metro Lions retain the runner-up position in the Eastern Conference with their 3-1 win over London City. Mike Glasgow, Carmin Allegranz and Caswain Mason were the Lions scorers, while often-times goalkeeper Altin Ruci playing in the midfield was the London City scorer. Metro Lions now have a 9-5-0 record for 27 points in second position, while London City are sixth in the Western Conference with a 2-8-6 record for 12 points.
