GAME REPORTS
WIZARDS BLANK LONDON 3-0 FOR SEMI-FINAL CANADA CUP BERTH SATURDAY
Mponda, a stocky midfielder and playmaker with plenty of pace and at times what appeared to be unlimited skills, combined with Wizards' Abraham Osman and striker Kevin Nelson to produce a potent attacking trio that proved to be the difference between the two teams in a hard fought contest before a good home crowd at Cove Road. London City checked a lively Ottawa attack early in the game and appeared to be on even terms until a defensive miscue by defender Matt Cuthbert allowed Wizard Abraham Osman to pick up a loose ball just outside the penalty box, swing to the right where Mponda struck well inside the far post for a 1-0 lead at the 27 minute mark. London City fought back but it was Ottawa that went further ahead when Mponda scored his second, a solo effort from the right wing and a hard drive that left London goalkeeper Anthony Camacho with little chance. The goal came after 85 minutes and three minutes later Abaham Osman made it 3-0. Ottawa Wizards now meet Brampton Hitmen in the second semi-final on the same ground Saturday, an 8.15 kickoff.
