OLYMPIANS DOWN DYNAMITES 5-1, ASTROS BLANK TORONTO SUPRA 3-0 IN FINAL WEEKEND OF REGULAR SEASON
Olympians led 3-1 at half-time against the Dynamites on goals by Brian Ashton, Kenny Nutt and Tilley, with Khalid Mensah striking for Montreal. Tilley scored twice in the second half to give the former A-League and York City of the English League forward 20 goals so far this season. Mississauga Olympians finished in the runner-up position with a 9-5-5 WLT record for 32 points, second to Toronto Croatia (34 points) in the Western Conference. The Dynamites also finished in the runner-up spot with 36 points from a 11-5-3 record, second to Ottawa Wizards with 47 points. North York Astros were impressive to score three goals late in the game, by Ryan Thompson at the 79th minute and two goals by Gabriel Salguero at the 82nd and 92 minutes, for a 3-0 final score.Astros improved to a 4-9-6 record for 18 pointsand fifth position in the Western Conference as a result of the win, while Toronto Supra ended its season with a 4-11-4 record for 16 points in seventh position in the Eastern Conference. Olympians, Dynamites and the Astros all move into the Rogers Cup playoffs this coming week.
